[...huh, didn’t you die? Well, maybe you didn’t. You might wake up feeling like you just woke up from a really vivid nightmare that you can still sort of feel the effects of or something… sure, you’re still in your old cabin, but maybe you can go out and see everyone?

...except when you go out, while it seems like the same old camp, things are a little… strange and pixelated. Also, the walls seem to have come down, but if you try to cross the barriers of where the walls were, you’ll find yourself right back at your cabin door.

Welcome to World -1, kids. You’re probably going to be here a while… and you may not actually be alone, either.]

[Well if you want a romantic meal Mac could try, but that would not end well. He's not Master Chef Mac.

So his original plan will be what he'll go for]

Ice skatin'. I thought that'd be fun. You know to skate on ice, right?

[He doesn't but he still wants to give it a try]

I know how to skate, yeah. But I've never done it on ice before, it's not cold enough to freeze anymore in my time.

[At least not anywhere near where Callie lives.]

Then let's give it a try! It can't be too hard to skate on ice. Come on, let's go!

[And there goes Mac, practically running away. He's...well, happy. Callie accepted to go on a date with him and well, it isn't like ice skating is something that can go too badly. Can dead people even break their bones?]

[Well, in Callie's case, she definitely can't. Because squids don't have bones.

But yes, going over to the ice skating rink! And putting on ice skates and such, though Callie doesn't bundle up. The cold doesn't really bother her.]

Have you ever done this before?

...I haven't. But it's never too late to learn, right?

[Besides it's the best place possible for a date, at least in this camp. Mac put on the ice skates and...he's literally dragging himself on the ice until he's relatively far. Once he's far enough he stays near the wall and tries to stand up]

See? It's not so hard to do!

[Now the thing is to actually start skating. Come on, Callie, give it a try!]

[See, Callie knows a thing or two about roller skates, and after a bit of experimenting she can translate her knowledge over to ice skating. She's no SHSL-Skater or anything, but she can at least stay upright and slowly go around the rink without falling over.]

You're right, it's pretty easy!

[Then she holds out a hand to Mac, so he can come skate next to her. If he can keep himself from falling over, that is.]

[That sure is a hand. Mac instinctively takes it and is pulled away from the wall]

It-It's about rhythm, I think...yeah, I think I got it!

[Maybe the training Mac had before coming to the camp helped to achieve this moment because Mac at least can skate along Callie, although it looks like he's going to fall at the slightest change of speed. Or if there's some wind. Or...if pretty much anything happens.

But Callie's guidance is nice, although it doesn't take long for Mac to start being left behind. The pressure of trying to not to fall and embarrass himself making him start to panic]

[It's a good start! But Callie notices that Mac is slowing down, so she gets an idea.

She grabs for his one hand with her other as she does a half-turn, so that she is skating backwards. She has to go a bit slower now to keep her own balance, and she can pull Mac along with her while she skates! It's win-win.]

You're doing great, keep going!

[That did the trick. Mac feels more balanced now. He starts to relax, everything is going nicely]

I got it now. Thanks, Callie!

[They skate a couple laps around until Mac finally feels confident enough to try this by himself. He carefully starts letting Callie go]

I-I got my balance. I can do it, finally. Thought it was goin' to be harder.

[Yeah, he was bluffing with the it being easy shtick]

Nah, once you have the balance down, it's as easy as walking!

[Falling is to be expected at some point, though. Callie fell soooo many times when she was learning how to use roller skates.

When Mac lets co, Callie moves so that she is skating next to him, instead of in front of him. She also faces forward again too, watching to see if he wobbles or falls.]

You won' have to worry about me fallin'. I'll be fine!

[Until he tries to get out of the rink at some point. He's so going to trip and fall down because how does one stop]

Thank you for all this, Callie! I wouldn' have dared to really try this if you hadn' come with me.

[Yeah, he has decided it. Callie is quite a nice gal. It would be great if she accepted to be his girlfriend but it was way too early for such thing. They had known each other for...what, four weeks? Maybe in the future they could be a couple.

[It is definitely a bit too early to tell, but this is a good first step. She's already noticed how absolutely adorable he is, and doing goofy fun stuff with her is a good way to win Callie over.]

I should be the one thanking you. I've been so focused on the whole dead thing, and finding all those secret treasures and stuff, that I haven't really stopped to have fun. So...thanks. For reminding me of that.
