[...huh, didn’t you die? Well, maybe you didn’t. You might wake up feeling like you just woke up from a really vivid nightmare that you can still sort of feel the effects of or something… sure, you’re still in your old cabin, but maybe you can go out and see everyone?

...except when you go out, while it seems like the same old camp, things are a little… strange and pixelated. Also, the walls seem to have come down, but if you try to cross the barriers of where the walls were, you’ll find yourself right back at your cabin door.

Ho-ho, marvelous! You know, I never could figure out where they were stashed. For all of my intellect, there wasn't much in the way of hints or anything for where the other two were placed. Besides, only searching at night did limit my options a bit, I suppose. Do excuse me for a moment.

[The bottom of the Pod opens briefly and the wrecking ball is reeled back in as the Pod descends towards the ground. Legs and a cannon appear from hatches on the side of the machine, leaving the scientist in front of the group inside some sort of Walker.]

Now then, boy, just where do you have them stashed?

Woah now, hold up there! We're all victims of the same guys, so we should be working together, right? I mean, we'll get a lot farther if we team up.

I couldn't agree more, my dear! Do excuse the intimidating appearance of the Egg Walker, it simply allows more maneuverability. If I am to deliver a monologue, I would like to move about while I'm doing it!

Well, monologue away? If you've got a plan, I mean. I would definitely be up to hearing about escape plans right about now.

[Eggman does indeed move about as he monologues, in fact, he's stomping along the ground to pick up the Triforce Shard lying on the ground.]

The obvious plan is to gather all three shards together. According to lore, the Triforce requires three individuals that personify the ideals of power, wisdom and courage in order to be reassembled and properly function. However, I believe that if I can study the Shards, I can create a machine that will simulate this function and allow it to be properly usable!

...That is, provided, you do have the other two Shards.

Why not just figure out who among us is strong, wise, and brave? That seems a lot easier to do.

Well, there's the rub! Don't believe that I haven't considered it myself, but the truth of the situation is that there's no guarantee that any of us will fit the Triforce's qualifications. My aim here is efficiency, and holding some namby-pamby popularity contest isn't the answer for that!

[He has the shard now, and lowers his goggles to examine it.]

Well, why not at least try it before building a giant robot? Trying takes like, what, five seconds? And it's not like we're in a huge rush or anything.

I'm saying this because time is of the essence! If The Hands are still operating their game, then it's rather obvious that the final step of their own agenda is quickly approaching!

Then why not do both at the same time? Study the shards with supervision, and then supervise us as we try to active their power while you build. That way no one has to worry about a double cross and we increase our chances of getting out of here.

With supervision? Oh, come now! It's as though you don't trust me!

I vouched for you, didn't I? If I had no faith in you at all, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Besides, I don't expect you to trust us either. It'd be foolish to do so after what happened to you. And obviously you aren't a fool.

That's just it though. You can make a machine strong, and as long as it's self aware you can make it brave. But wisdom is based off experance and instinct. You can't teach thst. It's not the same as Intelligence...

My plan is not to simulate the individual qualities, my plan is to drain the Triforce of it's essence and transfer it to a machine! That way, I won't have to go through the trouble of an arduous selection process!
